Coral Coast
The Coral Coast is a beautiful stretch of
coastline on the southern end of Viti Levu, between Nadi and
Pacific Harbour. The name is apt as the coast is wrapped by one of
the largest fringing reef systems in the world. Epitomising a
gentler pace and the warm hospitality of the Fijian culture, you
can submerge yourself into a world of warm days, cocktails by the
pool, sandy palm-fringed beaches and lush tropical lagoons.
As you drive along the Ocean Road you will get a glimpse of real
village life, from a fisherman selling his day's catch on the
roadside to a farmer hauling home a bunch of freshly harvested
bananas.
The Coral Coast is heavily dotted with hotels, resorts and backpacker retreats like no
other region in Fiji and is a haven
for the adventurous or for those who simply want a bit of sun, sand
and fun.
If you would prefer something more active there are plenty of
opportunities to indulge in your favourite water sports whether
that be sailing, snorkelling or scuba-diving to name a few.
Otherwise head off for a round of golf or perfect your tennis
skills.
The Coral Coast stretch has more villages than anywhere else in
Fiji. For those wanting to immerse themselves in the local culture,
catch the Coral Coast Railway to visit and experience a traditional
Fijian village. Here you will be 'off the beaten track'
conversing with locals and experiencing the Fijian way of life. A
visit to the Coral Coast is a must if you want to see the
real Fiji!
