Lautoka Fiji Holidays

Lautoka, or Sugar City has gained its names for 2 unique reasons. Being the place most known as where original islanders first set foot on Viti Levu, ‘Lautoka’ is understood to have been shouted during a spear fight between 2 chiefs duelling for the land. Landing his spear on the ‘Lau toka’ or ‘bull’s eye’ both ended the fight and named the region. ‘Sugar City’ is evident from the surrounding sugar-cane fields, the Sun Coast’s staple industry. As such, this city is the 2nd largest in Fiji and home to an array of authentic and international restaurants. With a beautiful backdrop of Mt Koroyanitu (Mt Evans) and just 24-kilometres north of Nadi, Lautoka boasts beautiful, tropical oases, the Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa, Vuda and First Landing Beach Resort & Villas.

The 2nd largest city in Fiji, Lautoka sits 24-kilometres north of Nadi right in the heart of the Sun Coast. Beautiful, sunny and home to stunning beaches and vibrant reefs, Lautoka is surrounded by sugar-cane farms, the biggest farming industry in Viti Levu, and is therefore also know by the name, Sugar City.

Enjoy incredible, tropical scenery here with rolling, green mountains, thick tropical foliage and pristine beaches. Take a tour from Lautoka wharf to Nalesutale Village for a beautiful hike to visit stunning natural waterfalls.
