Beqa Lagoon

Beqa Lagoon is the perfect location for avid divers and snorkelers wanting to explore the stunning coral reefs that occupy Fiji’s southern waters. Set on Beqa Island, the lagoon is a 30 minute boat ride away from Pacific Harbour at Viti Levu’s southern-most tip. The drive to Pacific Harbour is less than 1 hour from the capital, Suva, and approximately 1.5 hour east of Sigatoka in the Coral Coast. The Beqa Lagoon is one of the world’s largest barrier reefs, spanning over 305km. The water is protected and calm. Diving into it is like exploring a whole new world!

The dive sites in this region can be accessed easily as they’re set only a few minutes from shore. Get your heart pumping with shark-feeding dives or simply marvel at the plethora of tropical fish. The Beqa Lagoon is a true tropical paradise, showing off some of the very best landscapes in Fiji! Malumu Bay is a great place to swim if you’re looking for clear, warm waters. Start your days with a dip here before settling in for a day of exploring on foot. There are no roads on the picturesque Beqa Island and only a few isolated villages scattered around the perimeter—step your way right into “island time” as you discover this unique part of tropical Fiji!

Conservation is big at Beqa Lagoon and across the entire Beqa Island. A lot of time and energy has gone into preserving the island in its natural state and both locals and visitors are known to play their part. The region, as a result, is gloriously beautiful—the reef’s maintained ecosystem provides ample opportunities for travellers looking for an adventurous deep sea expedition, and the lush, green vegetation is perfect for a romantic escape in a candle-lit bungalow. Stay at one of the few resorts in the area, like the Lalati Resort & Spa and enjoy all this and more!
